Since the Great Depression started, farmers had no rainfall which they couldn't water their vegetations. So the crops and the ground got withered and dried up causing the dust bowl. Free verse are poems with no constriction about lines, rhyming, or stanzas which may be reflective and detailed than formal verses. According to the story it can be understood like an actual novel, for it has narrative text providing a plot graph

The point of view of this novel is first-person. The narrator is the main character, Billie Jo which story revolves around her how she goes through ups and downs or wrong to right.
How would the novel have been different if the father had narrated it?
The novel would have some different taste if the father had narrated it because Bj just a child concerning her hobby and academics. But if this revolved around PA, then the story would be based on the father's attention. How he talks, his personality, his work, etc. Furthermore, if the father had narrated the story, the novel would have a different or more depressing outcome.
